ACTES Pays you to change your life. We dedicate 12 months to helping each participant in all areas of life with the hopes of taking away that “IDLE TIME” where they have been known to engage in violence or violent activities. Our outreach professionals seek those at the “highest risk” in the community. Our ACTES team also works with other known street teams such as “Reach” and “Cure Violence” in order to identify who meets the criteria based on data reported in the county.
Once engaged, the participant then meet with our Job Coach to identify any barriers that may hinder them for successfully attending the program (housing, food instability, etc.) and then connects them with resources to meet their needs.
The participant then attends Cognitive Behavior Intervention (CBI) sessions where they learn multiple ways to navigate through daily life as well as the workforce. They can earn up to $30 each session. These sessions are conducted Monday-Thursday twice a day. While in CBI, the participant also attends Personal Development (PD) sessions where they can also earn up to $30 by learning basic life skills. These sessions are held once a day Monday-Thursday.
Once the number of hours is completed through CBI, participants then use all the skills learned in sessions to apply them to on-the-job training with Transitional Jobs (TJ). Our Work Crew team will transport participants to and from the worksite where they will demonstrate skills in a low barrier place of employment to prepare them for work on a full-time basis. Our team stays connected with the participant to monitor behavior, as well as make sure there aren’t any areas that we can use as “coaching” opportunities.
Career pathway is the final step in the program. While working with a job coach throughout the entire program, we pair participants with positions matching the area they would like to work in. If they are interested in education, they can get paid per diem to do classes or trade training. They can also do classes instead of TJ and still get paid.
